Yaffa CAI. is committed to providing the highest level of performances, workshops and trainings in the effort to educate and promote cultural identification, respect for diversity and personal development. Our Story
Yaffa Cultural Arts Inc. was founded by Dr. Linda H Humes in 1992. Yaffa CAI. works with educational institutions and community service organizations to provide a variety of community development programs which focus on social-cultural awareness and the arts. Yaffa programs aspire to enhance academic achievement and enrich the lives of children, adults, senior citizens and families from a broad range of cultural and economic backgrounds.
Yaffa has worked in more than 20 school districts, with families in temporary housing, and in various senior citizen centers throughout NYC. Yaffa has been an important provider of arts-in-education programs in the schools through such initiatives as Project Read and Project Arts. Yaffa has extensive experience developing after school programs, summer day camps, arts festivals, carnivals, and poetry and storytelling conferences. Yaffa regularly serves more than 50,000 participants each year.
Yaffa Cultural Arts’ programs feature storytelling, visual arts, music, dance, drama, creative writing, arts and crafts, fiber arts, teaching math and literacy through arts, rite of passage, staff development, parent workshops and interactive experiences that address cultural and interpersonal issues with topics ranging from conflict resolution to leadership skills. All activities are designed to improve communication, understanding, respect and appreciation among people of different cultures and generations. To develop and present their programs, Yaffa selects artists and professionals with expertise in the related areas for both their artistic and professional excellence, and their ability to make the programs enjoyable and accessible to a variety of populations. Yaffa has extensive experience developing after school programs, summer day camps, arts festivals, carnivals, and poetry and story telling conferences. An interactive approach is used to engage and stimulate participants. Yaffa regularly serves more than 50,000 participants each year through a combination of performances, workshops, festivals and after school programs.
